  • In London, it is illegal for a person with the Plague to flag down a taxi.
  • No cab may carry corpses or rabid dogs.
  • Liverpool: it is illegal for a woman to be topless except as a clerk in a tropical fish store.
  • It's illegal to sew the royal coat of arms into a bed quilt.
  • It's illegal to beat your carpet in the streets of Salford after 8am.
  • It is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament.
  • It is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upside down.
  • Royal Navy ships that enter the Port of London must provide a barrel of rum to the Constable of the Tower of London.
  • A pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants.
  • Lancashire: no person is permitted after being asked to stop by a constable on the seashore to incite a dog to bark.
  • The City of York, it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow.
  • All men over the age of 14, in England,must carry out two hours of longbow practice a day.
  • Chester, Welshmen are banned from entering the city before sunrise and from staying after sunset.
  • England/Wales border: a Welshman on the Welsh side of the border is perfectly safe from the law and a charge of murder if he shoots an Englishman dead on the English side of the river as long as it is with a crossbow and after sundown!
  • It is illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament wearing a suit of armour.
  • Taxi drivers are still required, by law, to carry enough fodder to feed their horse for the duration of their shift.

  • Alabama: It is illegal to wear a fake moustache that causes laughter in church.
  • Virginia: Tickling a woman is unlawful.
  • Vermont: Women must obtain written permission from their husbands to wear false teeth.
  • Texas: You may not shoot a buffalo from the second story of a hotel
  • Pennsylvania: It is illegal to sleep on top of a refrigerator outdoors.
  • Rhode Island: You may not bite off another person´s leg.
  • South Carolina: If a man promises to marry an unmarried woman, he is required by law to keep his promise.
  • South Dakota: It is illegal to lie down and fall asleep in a cheese factory.
  • Nevada: It is illegal for men with moustaches to kiss women.
  • Ohio, it is against state law to get a fish drunk.
  • New Hampshire: It is forbidden to sell the clothes you´re wearing to pay off a gambling debt.
  • New Jersey: It is against the law for a man to knit during the fishing season.
  • Missouri: Children may buy shotguns in Kansas City, but not toy cap guns.
  • Massachusetts: No gorilla is allowed in the backseat of any car.
  • Kentucky; it is illegal to carry a concealed weapon more than six-feet long.
  • Kentucky: Every citizen is required to take a shower once a year.
  • Louisiana: Biting someone with your natural teeth constitutes simple assault, but biting someone with your false teeth classifies as aggravated assault.
  • Wyoming: Unless you have an official permit, you may not take a picture of a rabbit from January to April.

  • Lightning keeps plants alive. The intense heat of lightning forces nitrogen in the air to mix with oxygen, forming nitrogen oxides that are soluble in water and fall to the ground in rain. Plants need nitrates to survive, so without lightning, plants could not live.
  • It is estimated that Earth as a whole is struck by an average of more than a hundred lightning bolts every second.
  • The odds on being struck by lightning in your lifetime is 1 in 3000.
  • Oak trees do not have acorns until they are fifty years old or older.
  • The primary purpose of growing rice in flooded paddies is to drown the weeds surrounding the young seedlings. Rice can, in fact, be grown in drained areas.
  • The telegraph plant of Asia has leaves that flutter constantly, even when there is no breeze.
  • The glue on Israeli postage stamps is certified kosher.
  • The earliest recorded case of a man giving up smoking was on April 5, 1679, when Johan Katsu, Sheriff of Turku, Finland, wrote in his diary "I quit smoking tobacco." He died one month later
  • The book of Esther in the Bible is the only book which does not mention the name of God.
  • Since most people are right-handed, the holes on men's clothes have buttons on the right - to make it easier for men to push them through the holes. Women's buttons are on the OPPOSITE side so their maids can dress them. When buttons were first used, they were expensive and only wealthy women had them. Since a maid faces the woman she is dressing, having the buttons on the left of the dress places them on the maid's right.
  • Left-handed people are statistically more likely to be geniuses, and to be insane.

between the assassinations of Abraham Lincoln & John F Kennedy

  • Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860: JFK was elected President in 1960
  • Lincoln had a secretary called Kennedy: Kennedy had a secretary called Lincoln
  • Both Presidents were shot in the head & both Presidents were with their wives at the time
  • Both assassinations took place on a Friday, both had been warned of an attempt on their lives & both refused to change thier schedule
  • Lincoln was shot by a man in a theatre who then hid in a warehouse & Kennedy was shot by a man in a warehouse who then hid in a theatre
  • Lincoln's assassin was a southerner in his twenties: Kennedy's assassin was a southerner in his twenties
  • Both of the assassins, John Wilkes Booth & Lee Harvey Oswald, died before their trial
  • Lincoln was succeeded by his Vice-President Andrew Johnson, born in 1808:
    Kennedy was succeeded by his Vice-President, Lyndon Johnson, born in 1908
  • Lincoln & Kennedy had seven letters in their names. Booth & Oswald both had fiftteen letters in their names,
    Andrew Johnson & Lyndon Johnson both had thirteen letters in their names
  • President Kennedy was being driven around Dallas in a Lincoln when he was assassinated.
